Braticisms
Sometimes a child can come up with things that many adults fail to grasp.
The bratlet’s (aka my oldest) has always seemed a little…precocious. Not behavioral wise, thank God. She still asks like a young kid and happy with it, instead of rushing to grow up. She still believes in all the magic, still thinks kissing is gross and while she does have a ‘cutie pie’ as she calls him, she doesn’t seem interested in chasing boys around, dressing like a mini adult or any of the other things I’ve worried about.
But sometimes, man… that girl.
She was playing with a friend the other day. Now this girl is a year younger than her, but the girl likes to act like she’s already sixteen. Dresses like it. Boy-crazy. Loves to play super-model. The two couldn’t be more different.
The friend says to the bratlet, I wanna be rich.
And my heart almost burst when the bratlet said, Why? Money’s not everything.
The friend says, Yeah, but it lets you do stuff.
The bratlet laughs and just said, But I do stuff now.
Sniffle. I guess me and the DH are doing okay with her.

You are doing better than okay!
She’s so comfortable with who she is she’s not worried about being honest with her peer.
It always amazes me to hear what comes out of the mouths of babes.
Definitely better than okay! As Rachel says, it shows both self confidence and feeling secure that she didn’t start looking for something she may not have–focusing instead on all she does. Kudos for both the kid and the parents, Shiloh.
That’s amazing. More people need to understand what your daughter was able to tell her friend.
LOL
What a wonderful thing to hear!
Whatever you’re doing it sounds right to me
She sounds like a great kid.
You and your DH are doing top notch parenting! More people should think like her.
This is the first time I ever seen a character pic! I think you’re doing beautiful. I’m imagining these like trading cards to collect!
