My newest, favoritest toy
Don’t hate her because she’s beautiful. She’s also very clever. Very classy. She fits in this neat little pocket of my purse and since she came into my life, my reading has gone through the roof.
So far, I’ve read…
- Grimspace Ann Aguirre. Fricking fantastic.
- Skin to Skin by Dionne Galace. Hot, fun romp.
- Ember by Bettie Sharpe. A re-read, but man, oh man what a wonderful re-read.
- Into the Mist by Maya Banks. My first from her. Great plot. Definitely interested in more.
So in the week since I’ve had my newest, bestest friend, I’ve read about the same amount I usually read in a month. She’s just so easy. She works at the gym. In the car waiting to pick up the monster from Kindergarten. Grabbing a few quick pages while cooking dinner, or killing time at the in-laws. A paperback doesn’t work as good at the gym. I can’t keep paperbacks in my purse, I tear them up. I could grab a few minutes while cooking dinner, but my newest friend is just so much easier than a paperback.
My Sony reader is my newest, bestest friend, and no, you can’t have her.

Hi Shiloh:
I’ve been thinking about getting one, so I’m jealous. Does it work well with PDF files? I have e-books in PDF form now and want to be able to use them with a reader I buy.
Enjoy her!
Lisa
Lisa, many of my files are in PDF but the format of the PDF was based on a page 8.5 x 11 so the font looks small. When you size it up (only takes a push of one button) it’s easier to read but the sentences are broke up.
I don’t mind that. So yes, you can PDFs. I’ve changed a lot of mine over to plain text though. Even easier.
You can also read text, rtf and I think .doc formats on it.
The more you talk about this, the more I want it! I’ll probably have to wait until my current ebookwise reader dies though…
Interesting. I’ve been thinking about purchasing the Amazon Kindle but the Sony is $100 cheaper. Is it wireless or do you have to download the titles from your PC? It certainly looks cool.
It isn’t wireless. That’s the one thing the Kindle had over this one, but I don’t think it’s worth an extra hundred bucks. I have a 2gb card that I loaded up with all the ebooks I have on my PC and the ones I bought when I got it. I check out the sony ebookstore and when i see titles I want, I add them to my ‘wishlist’ and check them out before I buy them. I figure the ‘whispernet’ thing would get me in too much trouble on impulse buys anyway.
And the Sony is so pretty prettier than the Kindle, even without the pink skin.
If we purchase the Sony Reader off a link from your blog, can you get credit, or is that not even an ability? It would be kewl if you could get some form of credit due to clicks & buys.
I use to have an e-reader. Loved the ability to load and read, hated how heavy the thing was. If I tried to lie in bed and read it, while on my side, my hand would fall asleep from holding it.
I’m really interested in getting an ebook, because right now I’m using my cellphone/pda as my ebook reader, and the type is very very small…lol
DrkCherry, answering that almost leaves a bad taste in my mouth…lol… because yeah, I can get a small% of purchases if somebody wanted to buy one through Amazon. (thus the bad taste)
If you’d buy through… guh… Amazon, yeah. I’m in their affiliate program and I get a %, although I don’t know how long I’m going to stay. The POD decision they made has me reconsidering how I link to them and use their affiliate program on my website.
However, until I make that decision, you can use this link if you want.
Sony E Reader
[...] There was the Kindle and I’m still disgusted with several things about it and not just ridiculous price you charge. (Psssst…. to those checking out an ebook reader? I’ve got the Sony Reader and it is total….) [...]
