Thursday Thirteen
for when I’ve got the blahs…
1. manicures… when I can find the time
2. using a cleaning lady. and actually, even though i should feel lazy that i don’t want to clean my house, this is technically a good thing. i have asthma and the cleaning products, even mild ones, aggravate me when i use them.
3. a long, hot bubblebath, complete with a glass of wine and a book
4. curling up in my chair with a quilt a friend made for me and the fireplace on.
5. laying in bed with a good book
6. ice cream from the cold stone creamery place
7. the DH and I going to our favorite Italian restuarant…without the kids
8. watching a movie at the theatre with my oldest daughter
9. going over to my mom’s house for chili in the winter
10. an unexpected back massage from the DH. He’s got goooood hands.
11. Rereading an old fave
12. finding a new fave
13. listening to music… LOUD…while I’m alone in the car

Wonderful list–I would love to hire out some of the housecleaning as a reward or pick-me-up! Maybe someday.
Happy TT!

Coldstone is so bad for me. Thankgod kiddo doesn’t go to the school right next door to there anymore – I’m in FL, do you have any idea of the willpower needed to turn down Coldstone on a hot, humid summer day?
January 25, 2007 at 5:13 am
we get some nasty heat and humidity around here, too. So I’ll say thank God the nearest coldstone is about 22 miles away. Unfortunately I can rationalize going out there too often. There’s a bookstore there.

I love #7 and the tag without kids.
I can relate.

Those all sound good to me!
I try to take a bubblebath at least once a week.. just to unwind.
And a cute little used bookstore just opened up down the road from me. I’m so excited!

I would love to have a cleaning lady…and I wouldn’t even feel guilty. LOL
January 25, 2007 at 3:36 pm
I have a cleaning lady too. I can write or i can clean house. Not both.
And i love curling up under the blankets on my sofa with a good book. Nothing makes me feel better. Except maybe those backrubs from hubby. Yummmmm.

What a great list for curing the blues!
Terrific Thursday Thirteen!

I like # 5 and 11 best.
I am hosting part of my son’s youth group for an after-church event in a few weeks, and I am so tempted to hire someone to do some of those “extra” cleaning jobs that are hard to get to that suddenly feel like they HAVE to get done before you have people over.
January 25, 2007 at 4:25 pm
What a great idea! Personally I have to do more of that kind of thing; in fact most of us should spend some time thinking of things that can make our day a little easier, a little brighter.
My favourites on the list: #3, 7, 10, 11 & 12. Mind you #7 is much easier now with the kids being older ~ well, three of them are adults and the baby is 14, so yeah, in theory we *should* be able to get away together more often, but somehow we don’t.
It’s like a lot of things in life, sometimes we have to put more effort into relaxing than working. *sigh*
Now I’m just philosophizing ~ and it’s not even 9:30. URK!
January 25, 2007 at 4:47 pm
Some of mine are on there. Especially 3 & 5. When I’m especially blahed or stressed, the DH and I head to a movie. That’s always a nice escape.
January 25, 2007 at 4:59 pm
That is a fantastic list. Everyone should at least that many things to pick them up.
January 25, 2007 at 5:56 pm
What a great list.
January 25, 2007 at 6:15 pm
Two words–cake batter ice cream
Ok so that was three…
January 25, 2007 at 7:50 pm
I love my bath time! Wine, bubbles, and a good book and I’m set for hours.
Not that my children will allow me hours. And one of these days I’m going to hire someone to come clean my house. At least that way I’ll know it got cleaned properly once. Happy TT!
January 25, 2007 at 8:02 pm
I need a massage.
I’m trying to hit the movies on Tuesday!
January 25, 2007 at 11:44 pm
amie… shut up… whimper. now i’m going to need to make a drive to get me some. whimper.
January 25, 2007 at 11:56 pm
What indulgences! I’ve never had–but want-a manicure. And I’m begging for a cleaning lady cleaning for Valentine’s Day. One can hope … (My TT #2 is up!)
January 26, 2007 at 1:15 am
That’s great – i’ve never really thought about what things i do for comfort when i feel blechy or like an uber bitch (pretty much the same thing since blechiness makes me bitchy and then when i get bitchy i feel kinda blechy about it.) I guess curling up in a corner with a good book and hiding from the world does it best for me. It certainly protects the rest of the world from me when i’m not feeling quite like perky-girl.
January 26, 2007 at 3:35 am
Yes they all definitely make a woman feel good. Happy T13
January 26, 2007 at 3:58 am
I love that list. A lot of the things on it are a wish list item for me not a reality thing LOL Some day …
January 26, 2007 at 4:19 am
I’ll take all of the above …well, the massage would have to be by someone else, but ya, sign me up. *g*
my TT is up too. better late than never, I say.
January 26, 2007 at 3:20 pm
Anni, yes, darlin, you’re right. You can’t get a massage from my husband.
